“You don't realise what little things you say can mean to a client. 'It's all going to be okay. You can stop working when you're ready' is very powerful.”

Based in our Canberra office, Jamie helps clients grow their wealth, make the most of their super and investments, and work out what retirement could look like for them. A big part of her role is helping people feel less overwhelmed by money and more clear about what they can do next.

A lot of the advice I give centres around helping clients prepare for retirement, make smart decisions with their super and investments, and feel more confident about where they stand. I enjoy taking situations that feel big, messy or overwhelming and turning them into something clear and manageable.

A lot of the people I work with come into meetings carrying quiet anxiety about whether they have done enough. They have worked hard, done their best, and often assumed they need to keep pushing just to be safe. Then we sit down, map things out properly, and the whole conversation changes. They can see what they have, what it means, and what is actually possible from here.

Those are the moments that stay with me. Not because of the numbers themselves, but because of what they change. Relief. Breathing room. A sense that life might not need to feel quite so heavy anymore. That shift, when the stress starts to lift and someone can see a different future for themselves, is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

I care a lot about making advice feel human. Money can be intimidating, easy to avoid, and tied up with a lot of stress. I do not think people need more jargon or more complexity. They need someone to help them sort through it, explain it clearly, and make it all feel a bit more manageable.

Outside work, I love musicals, board games, escape rooms, painting, gardening, and old school video games. Age of Empires II is still a long-time favourite. I have also spent years volunteering with animals.

A few fun facts: I learnt Mandarin for nine years, although most of it has disappeared into the void. For years, the voice narrating the exhibits at the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre was mine. And at one point, a family friend used my name for a one-off side character in Home and Away.
